Art art art is the best best best

On Saturday we spent the afternoon walking around the Marais district after meeting up with a friend of a friend (thanks for the hook-up Elise!).

The area is lovely with a wonderful mix of busy and quiet streets and some amazing little squares and beautiful mansions.  At the end of the day we walked back to the Seine and passed through the Hôtel de Ville square on the way.  There was a very interesting outdoor exhibit on the trees of Paris (which are pruned in different shapes depending on which area you're in) and then directly in front of the Hôtel was this:

Looks kind of cool with the different levels and the funny spiderman-esque white lines.  We walked through it and admired the trees, etc.  Then, we spotted a viewing balcony at one end of the square so we lined up to see what it would look like from there.  All the way up the line, it still looked pretty much the same as the pic above.  Then we got to the very front and the display suddenly changed to look like this:

SO CRAZY!!!!

*Update* Just camc across the video clip of the installation.  View details here!

  1. Very cool! I love the public art in Paris - always changing and often whimsical.
